Doors Open Collingwood 2007

Collingwood's Historic Downtown opened its doors on Saturday and Sunday September 29th and 30th as a part of Doors Open Collingwood. The Town of Collingwood shared its rich heritage with visitors and town residents throughout the weekend. Visitors enjoyed outstanding Fall weather, making the many outdoor patios popular places to visit. Many visitors participated in self-guided walking tours throughout the downtown, enjoying the many murals, displays, entertainment and of course, the friendly people who make Collingwood's Downtown a special place to visit. The popular Downtown Collingwood Farmers' Market welcomed visitors at the corner of Pine and Second Streets on Saturday morning. Many downtown buildings were open for viewing including Cafe Chartreuse, Fishbowl Art Studio, The Bay School of Art, Espresso Post, the Collingwood Town Hall/Municipal Building, First Baptist Church, Thurso House, the Beild House, the Temple Building, the Station Museum and the historic Gayety Theatre.

The popular Bell Telephone exhibit was back for another year. Manfred Leimgardt was on hand, in front of the former Bell Telephone Office in Downtown Collingwood, to meet with visitors and to talk about the many treasures he had on display.

Outdoor patios were busy throughout Historic Downtown Collingwood. The Espresso Post (above) was on the Doors Open Collingwood tour. The building housed Collingwood's first Post Office.

Downtown Collingwood merchants got into the true spirit of Doors Open Collingwood by dressing the way shopkeepers would have dressed years ago.

World Famous Mime Artist Michael Carl O'Neil was back at Doors Open Collingwood for 2007. Downtown Collingwood visitors were certainly entertained by O'Neil, as "Charlie Chaplin" throughout the weekend.
