If you've ever had to have clothing altered, you know how valuable a service such as Hilda's Sewing and Alterations is to the community. Hilda Valentine has been in the alteration business for 28 years. "We do everything but fur and feathers" she says with a smile. "We have fun here" she adds, which is obvious the moment you walk through the door of the new Downtown Collingwood location. "Being centrally located has seen business increase" Hilda says. The new location is just steps from Loblaws, at the rear of 38 Pine Street (with lots of free parking at the back).

"I never planned to start a business ... it has just evolved" says Hilda. Her business is bigger than ever, employing three very busy people. "We specialize in repairs and alterations" says Hilda. "I specialize in skiwear, Sandra is our bridal expert, and Verna does everything, specializing in knitting" Hilda said. "We do a good job at a good price and specialize in customer service" Hilda added.
